Ironing & Laundry Tips to reduce laundry headaches!

Simple changes to your routine or adding accessory items, shown here, can make a world of difference when it comes to doing laundry ... check it out!

Spend more time sorting, and less time doing laundry. Don't wait till wash day; sort laundry as you take off your clothes! Have two baskets in the closet, bathroom, or laundry room for dirty clothes — one for whites, and one for darks and colors. This way, you can just grab a basket and throw it in the wash.
Make a point to remove your clothes from the dryer while they're still warm. The longer they sit in your machine, the more they will wrinkle.
If possible, iron shirts while they’re still slightly damp — it'll make the job much easier!
Check the garment care label on the item you're ironing and set the iron to the correct temperature. Using a setting that's too high won't just ruin your clothes, the garment may stick to the sole-plate of your iron and ruin that too!
If you're ironing more than one garment, it's easier to start with the lowest heat and move upwards — that way you don't have to wait for the iron to cool.
When you iron with starch, iron quickly — otherwise the starch may stick to the sole-plate of the iron and burn.

Quick dry cleaning tips

Remove your clothes from the plastic bags as soon as you get home from the dry cleaner. The bags look messy and hinder your ability to quickly see what is hanging in your closet. Most importantly, plastic bags can cause clothes to yellow and also trap the odor of cleaning chemicals inside.

Practical tips for organizing linen closets

Use big, clear plastic bags with zippers to store fluffy comforters and extra pillows with volume. This keeps them from unfolding and covering all the space. Depending on how often they are used, you can place them at the very top or the very bottom shelf.
You can organize sheets by size if they don’t belong to a set. If you have many sets, the best way to keep all the pieces together is by folding them and placing everything in one of the pillow cases of the set.
Different size bath towels can be separated by using shelf dividers.
Rolling up napkins and place mats in a box saves space, makes them easy to find, and avoids wrinkling.

Seasonal storage ideas

Before storing garments at the end of the season, make sure they've been laundered or dry-cleaned. Any marks that aren't removed will be almost impossible to get rid of next season!
Storage areas should be clean, cool and dark. Avoid direct sunlight as it can fade garments and damage fabric.
When the time comes to take your clothes out of seasonal storage, make sure you air them well before putting them back in your wardrobe.
Stack your folded items from the lightest items on top to the heaviest items on bottom. Stacking items loosely will allow air to still circulate.
Don't smash your clothes to get storage container lids on!
