Our History
Almost 28 years ago, the two friends and business partners who owned Fence City in Montgomeryville, PA, saw closets as the next "big thing", One of the owners had built his own home and was getting down to the finishing details. Having read about closet organizers and related cabinetry (something new back then!), he did some searching and found a shop in Philadelphia capable of producing what he envisioned. "When I looked at what I got ... I was intrigued and felt that this was something we could make," he says.

The pair already had a successful business in place -- Fence City, on heavily-traveled Route 309. Established 18 years earlier, the yard sold all types of outdoor fencing, catering to contractors as well as retail customers, a theme the partners would repeat as they set up their business model for Closet City.  The partners used the Philadelphia fabrication shop briefly to get things rolling, but quickly became dissatisfied with the quality of its work. "We didn't want to miss the boat, so we discussed our options.  We had a building in a prime area that we could manufacture in, and had some talented people already working for us."  So for many years now, we have been manufacturing and installing our own trademarked brand, Closet Options.

The local retail component of Closet City's operation is run by one of our former customers. Janet Stevenson was a local closet dealer who bought product from Closet City before joining the staff 20 years ago.  She continues to expand our growing network of customers by being very involved in the interior design field.  A member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), and the International Furniture Design Association (IFDA), Janet scored a real coup for us when she was featured on HGTV's "Mission Organization" show in 2003.  She has continued to excel in her field and recently gained national exposure for Closet City by winning several closet and interior design competitions.

Janet, our expert designer, will meet with you at the Montgomeryville showroom, your home or on a phone consultation, and will carefully consider the space and possessions that need organizing. You will be provided with a custom, computer-generated design that will detail the dimensions and layout of a creative solution to your storage problems. Our staff of well-trained experts will manufacture and professionally install your new organization system.

Space & Storage Solutions
We carry many organizational products and accessory items for do-it-yourself closet and storage installations. The materials we install are manufactured by us and carry a limited life-time guarantee, which proves their quality of craftsmanship.

Cabinetry
In addition to the custom cabinetry that we fabricate ourselves, Closet City is also a distributor of Yorktowne Cabinetry, a national cabinet company who specializes in beautiful yet functional designs for the bedroom, master closets, kitchen, bathroom and office.  Our cabinets are LEED certified.  We also offer some eco-friendly solutions, such as NAUF finishes, and sustainable woods, such as bamboo.  For more about our green building initiatives, click here.
