Holiday Organization Tips from Closet City your professional home organizers!
The joy of cooking starts with an organized kitchen!
It's inevitable. You're hosting a holiday dinner or your brother's surprise birthday party, and the guests have congregated in the kitchen. Why? It's where YOU are!
Today's kitchens seem to become entertainment centers by default. With our help, your kitchen can become a functional and beautiful entertainment center by design.
An organized and efficient pantry supports a successful kitchen and helps make cooking a joy. A pantry needs to be arranged just the way the cook wants it and the way that will help the cook work best. Wine, food, drinks, small kitchen appliances, and a variety of other items should be within easy reach.
Our organization professionals will make your pantry an efficient extension of your kitchen. Your food items will be visible and accessible through the use of cabinets, shelves (be they stationary, pull-out or tiered), vertical space organizers and baskets.
As you know, many activities (other than entertainment) occur in the kitchen. Kitchens are our cooking, food preparation, food storage, food serving, cleaning, and sometimes mail opening and bill-paying hub. Some areas of the kitchen are naturally suited to facilitate these activities, and an organized kitchen helps you do those activities better. A kitchen designed with a variety of activities in mind will contain such accessories as stepped shelving, drawer dividers, pullout racks, and desk space, as well as many others. All of which will save the busy cook and entertainer time and energy!
What time is dinner? We'll be right over!

Hidden Chores
Fitting within the space of a standard drawer, this folding ironing board rotates 180° with seven preset positions. The slide mechanism mounts to a shelf, and the board hides away within a 7-1/2”h x 14”d x 24”w drawer opening. The board itself measures 12 x 38” – perfect for touching up a shirt in the morning or ironing an entire load of laundry. It’s just one of many hidden gadgets and handy storage items available at Closet City!

Storing Decorations
Seasonal Decoration Have Their Own Storage Needs:
Store delicate, expensive, or special lights in inexpensive food bowls with covers. They won't crush or break, and can be stacked without damage.
Keep your used fabric softener sheets to wrap and protect ornaments: the softener residue repels static electricity and dust. Gently place wrapped ornaments in storage containers (those large popcorn canisters work great).
Separate expensive or sentimental ornaments. Delicate, elongated ornaments can be stored inside a cardboard tube. Smaller ornaments can be safely placed in egg cartons.
Don't overcrowd a storage box or force the lid down; always label containers.
Don't use table on containers you care about; tape gets gummy if stored in a hot attic and can cause a mess. Try bungee cords instead (rubber bands dry out and break!).
Storing Garland
If you have garlands swaged down your staircase or over the windows, you've probably linked a combination of shorter garlands to be just the right length for these areas. To make your life easier, store these garlands just as you hang them, and they'll be ready to go up next winter. So you don't have to measure each year, place a white twist-tie or string at each spot where the garland gets pulled up for swags.
Store bulky garlands in large plastic storage boxes. Since there's nothing to break, you can push a lot into a big box, and the garlands can be fluffed out the next year. Take the guesswork out of decorating each winter by clearly marking each box as to where the garlands get hung.
